TO PROPERLY BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT:
For all cosmetic tattoo and fine line tattoo services, a $50 non refundable booking fee is charged at the time of booking.
All appointments require a credit card (held securely) to confirm the booking. No charges are made to the card unless your appointment is cancelled late or no showed.
A credit card authorization form, outlining our cancellation policy will be emailed to you once you have booked your appointment. This form MUST be signed in order for your appointment to be confirmed.
If the same appointment is booked and then rescheduled more than twice, a new non-refundable booking fee will apply for any further rescheduling.
WAVER & CONSENT FORMS
All initial sessions, touch ups, and annual appointments require our waiver and consent form to be signed before your appointment. This updates us on any new medical issues and is an informed consent. Completing this and signing will allow your appointment to be booked and confirmed.
PREVIOUS WORK DONE ELSEWHERE?
If you've previous work done elsewhere, you must provide us with a photo of your current brows so we can ensure we're able to work over your existing brow work. Not all older, healed work is able to get an immediate touch up and may require additional sessions if a colour correction is needed.
CONSULTATIONS ARE REQUIRED
We begin all of our services with a consultation. Cosmetic tattooing is a specialized service that requires detailed discussion to ensure you can achieve the result you're looking for.
We're sympathetic to sudden changes in personal schedules or illness-related changes to your day. Please understand that our artists reserve a few hours in their schedule in order to ensure they provide you with the highest quality of work.
Cancelling last minute (regardless of the reason) disrupts the artist’s schedule, impacts overall productivity, and affects our other clients who have been waiting to book in for an appointment. Our artists are commission based and rely on consistency in their schedules as their means of living. When an appointment is cancelled short notice for any reason, even events that may be out of your control, our artists end up paying for the appointment by loss of income.
Consequently, we require a minimum of 48 hrs notice to reschedule your appointment. By confirming your appointment with your credit card, you are accepting and acknowledge your responsibility to your booking and accepting that even unforeseen circumstances are subject to a 50% cancellation fee.
RESCHEDULING LIMITS
If you need to reschedule your appointment prior to the 48hrs cancellation policy, there is a limit of one (1) time your appointment can be rescheduled. This is to avoid holding spots with consistent rescheduling which creates a great deal of disruption and administrative work in our artist’s schedules.
BEFORE YOU BOOK
To ensure we're both ready for your appointment, please read the FAQ section and the cosmetic tattoo waiver and consent form thoroughly before booking your appointment.
If you arrive to your appointment with an existing health, medical, or personal reason we cannot perform your service, your appointment will be cancelled and there will be a 50% charge.
QUESTIONS? SCHEDULE A CALL
If you have any concerns or questions prior to booking, please schedule a consultation prior to booking an initial appointment.
As a precaution we do not perform our services on those who are prone to keloid scarring, women who are pregnant/and or nursing as well as those who have psoriasis or an open wound/broken skin near or around the area being worked on. Clients taking acne meds must wait at least 6months to 1year before undertaking any cosmetic tattooing services.
Everyone is different! We always place a topical anesthetic on the skin before the treatment begins. This helps with the minor discomfort some may experience. With microblading some clients describe the procedure as a “scratch like feeling”. Generally speaking, most clients are perfectly comfortable throughout the entire procedure and some even fall asleep!
Everyone’s results are different depending on your lifestyle, sun exposure, body chemistry, and skin type. Generally speaking, microblading can last anywhere from 6 months to 3 years, while a combo brow/powder brow/eyeliner lash enhancement/lip blush can last 1-3 years.
Slight changes in colour are normal, although with high-quality pigments (which we always use), colour changes are less likely and a colour correction is very doable if needed at your annual touch up. In order to keep your work looking fresh, we recommend a touch up every 1-1.5 years.
For clients with oily skin, retention with microblading is usually shorter, around 6 to months and result can heal blurry over time. We do not recommend microblading alone for anyone with oily skin.
There is very minimal trauma to skin during the procedure when a trained artist is doing your cosmetic tattoo. Most clients experience no more or less redness than they would from a brow wax, and others leave without any redness at all. If you tend to have sensitive skin, you may experience more redness or sensitivity. We provide you with a high quality healing salve for after care.
Generally, the first step of healing takes approximately 7 – 10 days. This is the time that compliance with aftercare is important. Refer to the before and after care instructions below for specific details on home care before and after your appointment. Please keep in mind that everyone heals at a different rate. Overall, your brows require 4-6 weeks to COMPLETELY heal. This is when we will schedule your follow up appointment. The skin is at its optimal state to accept and retain pigment only once the skin has fully healed.
Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Ibuprofen for 24-48 hours before the procedure. If you're on blood thinners, please consult your physician prior to your appointment and ensure it is ok to be off of your meds before your appointment to avoid excessive bleeding.
If you have any autoimmune disorders or have recently undergone chemotherapy please consult your physician and provide us with written consent prior to booking.
Avoid coffee, alcohol or energy drinks (or any caffeinated beverage) before the procedure.
If you're used to getting your brows tinted, do so at least 1 week prior to the microblading procedure.
Do not show up to your appointment with overly tanned or sunburnt skin. Avoid excessive sun exposure at least 14 days before and after the procedure. Use sunscreen to protect the area after your work has healed.
Do not have chemical peels, dermabrasions, mesotherapy, or any other intense treatments 3 – 4 weeks before the microblading procedure. This will cause faster skin cell rejuvenation and skin irritation and will therefore affect healing and the final outcome. If you're taking any retinol’s or any product that contributes to faster skin cell turnover, please avoid their use several weeks before your session.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we cannot perform the procedure.
If you have older work that was done elsewhere, or work at our studio that as done more than 2+ years ago, please ensure to send us a photo of your brows to inof[@]studiokanti.ca before booking your appointment.
Not all older work can be touched up with the “annual touch up” option on our booking page. More sessions may be needed if a colour correction is needed or removal of older pigment may be required in order to touch up your brows.
Wash your hair before the procedure as it will be difficult to keep your brows dry for 10 days if you have to wash your hair often
Arrive with clean skin (no heavy makeup on the eyelids). Eyebrow makeup is ok if you are wanting the artist to see your shape preference, colour, etc.
Your brow artist will instruct you on your individualized aftercare regimen based on several factors, including, skin type (dry, normal, combination, oily), and the method used for your cosmetic tattoo.
Some skin types are more sensitive than others and your aftercare routine will be customized to you for this reason.
For all clients, ensure there is no contact with water for the 10 days after the procedure. This includes no heavy workouts to avoid sweating which will contribute to more fading, no swimming, no sauna or steam rooms. This is crucial to ensure proper healing and to avoid infection.
No sunbathing or tanning for at least 4 weeks after the procedure. After healing is complete, an SPF is recommended to avoid excessive fading and/or colour changes that can happen from direct sun exposure.
No chemical peels, laser treatments for 3 to 4 weeks following the procedure. If botox is done prior to your appointment, please allow 14 days to pass before the start of your semi permanent makeup procedure.
Avoid applying makeup, powder, eyebrow pencil and any creams with active ingredients for at least 10 days after. This is to ensure for the best healing results. Please also avoid all public pools, hot tubs, sauna’s etc., for 10 days.
Results are not guaranteed for everyone and every client will heal differently. Two or three sessions may be required to achieve the desired results. It is not uncommon to lose up to 60% or more of the colour after the initial session. Cosmetic tattooing is a process, and in order to achieve the most natural result it is important we work conservatively.
While your skin is healing, be prepared for the colour intensity to be significantly darker than what is expected for the final outcome. This is a normal and expected outcome of the application and healing process.
The healing process will take a number of days to complete, depending on how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates and new skin regenerates to take its place. In general, 10 days is the time it takes for your skin to fully heal. But it takes 6 weeks to see the “true” result after each session.
